'Thrash the dress’ is a pre-wedding photography concept that is gaining in popularity among adventurous couples. The idea really is not so much to wreck the wedding dress but rather throw caution to the wind when shooting at unique locations where the dress may get dirty, but without having to worry about it. If the dress gets destroyed ‘so be it’ is the motto. Adopting this attitude allows the photographer creative freedom to pose the couple, as evidenced in the photographs featured here.

As it is very likely that the dress will get dirty and possibly no longer wearable, here are some cost-saving tips :

  • Purchase a pre-owned wedding gown or a sample piece, both of which will be at a much lower price as compared to a new outfit.

  • Buy a simple, inexpensive cocktail dress.

To enjoy the entire experience, couples need to :

  • Be willing to experiment.

  • Put themselves in the hands of the photographer and follow his or her lead.

  • Be open-minded and carefree.

Tip : The groom should also get relatively inexpensive attire for the shoot.
