Wedding videography, by its very nature, is a storytelling genre and is a vital tool for imparting one of the most important stories of a couple’s life. Indeed, it is not just about focusing on visuals and emphasising the prettiest and most dramatic images. Editing which is the process of sequencing and the selection of footage to form a cohesive story plays a big role as well. How many times have we seen wedding videos filmed by an old uncle that seemed to go on forever and ever? Watching non-edited video footage that plays out for 3-4 hours is not fun. Then, imagine seeing a first shot of a groom whispering something into the ear of the bride. Then the next shot is a close up of the bride crying. What comes to your mind immediately? How did putting those 2 shots together make you feel? The two events (the crying and the whispering) could have occurred 15 minutes apart, but when placed next to each other in a video, the implication is clear. And it speaks volumes.
