Too many cooks spoil the broth. Similarly, too many design details on a wedding gown will render it ‘too busy’. A well-executed single design element is all that is needed to make a statement. Brides-to-be have a number of options when it comes to embellishing a wedding gown. These include :

  • Lace appliqué.

  • Embroidery.

  • Beading.

A few tips :

  • Sometimes less is more.

  • Some options work together, for example lace appliqué and beading or embroidery and beading; whereas others do not, such as lace appliqué and embroidery.

  • A simple gown with minimal adornment is suited for more casual settings whereas a high-wattage gown is a must for an extravagant event.

  • When working on a limited budget, spend on embellishments on the bodice as most photos will be cropped from the waist up.
