As someone whom the bride relies
on, not only on the wedding day but very often
right through the planning process, the bridesmaid
plays an integral role in ensuring that the
bride is never flustered, calming her nerves
and reminding her to be patient throughout the
roller-coaster ride of pre-wedding stress and
pre-marital jitters.
On the big day itself, the
bridesmaid takes on even greater responsibility.
Dressing the bride, prompting her where necessary,
and attending to her every need, it is necessary
therefore for the bridesmaid to be as comfortable
as possible in what she is wearing, yet having
to project an image of elegance and grace.
Some of her responsibilities
may include .
-
Dressing the bride, making sure that every
button is fastened, every ribbon secured.
-
Relieving the bride of her bouquet when
necessary, for example, during religious
ceremonies.
-
Trying to keep the bride cool, calm and
collected. Keeping her cool with a paper
fan and having lots of tissue on hand to
wipe off any perspiration.
-
Walking down the aisle,
preceding the bride, in church.
