Dazzling The Crowd At The Wedding Banquet

Unlike in the West where a bride will don only her bridal gown and perhaps a going-away dress on her wedding day, the majority of Asian brides will often have a few outfit changes throughout the day. And it is at the wedding banquet where the bride is expected to dazzle. It has been the norm for a bride to have at least two evening gowns for the banquet, one perhaps for the cake-cutting ceremony, and another for making the rounds, greeting guests from table to table. Recent times however, have seen more modern and cosmopolitan brides deciding to have only one special evening gown for the entire course of the reception. It is a matter of personal preference really.

What is certain though is that every eye in the room would be keeping a lookout for the bride in her evening gown. Whilst not as sentimental in nature as the wedding gown, a bride in her evening gown should nevertheless evoke a sense of glamour and sophistication. This probably explains why brides put in the necessary effort as well, when selecting the gowns she would wear during the banquet.

As the wedding gown often takes precedence, the design and choice of the evening gown is usually only considered after the selection of the former has been made. Most will opt for a different cut in order to showcase some variety in taste while others may decide to have a common silhouette throughout the changes of gowns. Choice of colour too very much depends on personal preferences. Some brides may be inclined to take the pastel route as an extension of the ivory bridal gown, sticking perhaps to a palette of champagne, pink, peach or baby blue. The more adventurous meanwhile may want to make a statement by re-appearing in a gown of a vivid colour.

Cut and colour aside, a host of other considerations such as fabric type, embellishments and so forth also form part of the equation. As in the many tasks involved in the wedding planning process, choosing an evening gown is no walk-in-the-park either. At the end of the day however, rest assured that the effort will be well rewarded. After all, who wouldn't like to be at the receiving end of compliments.

Tip : Too many gown changes during the banquet will leave you with very little time to mingle with your guests.
