The services of a caterer are often required at either of the following venues :

  • Home of the bride and groom’s families on the eve of the wedding if their parents are hosting a dinner for relatives and close friends.
  • At the house of worship where the wedding ceremony takes place as a reception often follows the ceremony.
  • At the banquet if the venue does not offer catering facilities.

Issues to discuss with the caterer :

  • Budget allocated per pax and types of menus that meet your budget.
  • Sit down dinner or buffet.
  • Size of guest list.
  • Canopy, tables, chairs and linens.
  • Décor.

A few tips :

  • Introduce your caterer to your other wedding vendors, in particular your wedding planner, floral designer, decorator and the like so that they can coordinate.
  • See if a food tasting is available prior to the wedding day.
