Ready For A Soiree

Feb 01, 2018

Having an evening gown custom-made is the aspiration of every bride if budget permits. Whether held in a hotel ballroom, restaurant, community hall or perhaps even outdoors, the bride would certainly want to look her best at the wedding banquet.

Why custom-made?

  • Opportunity to have a one-off design specially created.
  • A chance to have some input into the design when discussing with your designer.
  • Possible to create a design around your wedding theme.
  • The fit is always better.

Consider the following :

  • Your budget vis-à-vis your designer of choice.
  • Lead time required.
  • Silhouette.
  • Colours.
  • Fabrics.
  • Embellishments.
  • How appropriate is the design for your venue.

Alternatively, some brides prefer to go the rental route where they select from a collection of off-the-rack ready-to-wear gowns, albeit with some slight adjustments where necessary.

Determine the following for a rental gown :

  • Lead time for alterations if required.
  • Are alterations included in the cost?
  • Who bears the drycleaning fees after the wedding?
  • Pick-up time and deadline for return of gown post wedding.

A few tips :

  • Schedule a time to view and try on gowns.
  • Perhaps bring one or two persons along for different perspectives.
  • Avoid having any children or babies in our entourage.
