It is now pretty common to find couples flying abroad with photographer and makeup artist in tow for pre-wedding shoots. Those with smaller budgets travel within South East Asia whereas those with deeper pockets venture further abroad.

Couples choose the following locales :

• Destinations that are well known for being exotic.

• Places that hold special meaning to them such as the country where they took their first holiday together perhaps or where the proposal took place.

• Countries that have beautiful landscapes, architecture or heritage sites.

• Destinations that low cost airlines fly to.

Before flying out, be sure to :

• Do some research on spots that are postcard perfect.

• Hire a photographer who is enthusiastic about shooting abroad and someone who has had some experience with the selected destination.

• Check on weather conditions for the time of year you wish to visit.

• Crunch the numbers and allocate a reasonable budget.
