Serving alcohol at your wedding has that unenviable position of having relative importance to the bride and groom. However, wherever it sits on the priority list for your wedding, trying to determine how much alcohol to purchase and serve for your wedding reception can be challenging. Too much would be wasteful. Too little just would not do.

Budget is always a consideration - as with everything else that goes into the planning of your wedding. Serving alcohol at your wedding celebrations can come up to a considerable sum in your wedding budget. Fortunately, there is some flexibility with wines as there are many labels available these days that are enjoyable even at a lower budget range.

For wines and champagne, the estimation is quite simple. One bottle of wine pours an average of 6 glasses of wine. Assuming everyone drinks a glass, a wedding reception of 100 people would require at least 16 bottles of wine. A reception for 200 people would require about 32 bottles of wine. This average is a good estimation to work with as some people might not drink wine while others drink more than a glass or two. Take a moment to consider your guests before you make an estimate based on the guide above.

Some great labels to go for are the 'Jacob's Creek traditional range' and the 'Wyndham Estate Bin range'. The wines in these ranges are worth their value in dollar with their outstanding qualities - consistent, flavoursome, enjoyable.

Lastly, let us not forget the all important toast. If one has the budget, the beautiful and renown bottle of 'Champagne Perrier Jouet' or; the one that represents celebration with its signature red slash and that which is seen on the world's fastest track - 'Champagne G.H. Mumm', would be perfect. Just two bottles will do for the toast. Otherwise, on a lower budget scale yet still classy to look at, would be the blush coloured 'Jacob's Creek Sparkling Rose'.
