So very often what sets a great event apart from a mediocre one is the décor. Indeed, a stylishly set up ceremony site or banquet venue very much reflects the taste and sophistication of the bridal couple. Some take it upon themselves to appoint artistically-inclined family and friends to put their decorative skills to good use, hence, providing a 'personal touch' to the setting. Whilst this option gives the bride and groom an opportunity to trim the venue-décor budget, it is also necessary to have utmost confidence in your chosen team of enthusiastic decorators. Sure, share your ideas but do not authoritatively dictate or tensions are bound to surface.

Some couples however, prefer to leave the setting of their venues in the hands of professionals. Specialists in décor abound in the market, catering to budgets big or small. In many instances, these service providers make their decision on whether to undertake a job based on their perceived compatibility with the bridal couple, and not necessarily on the size of the budget. They certainly derive as much pleasure out of their work as you would.

When meeting with these décor professionals, do :
  • Ask to see photos of weddings they've done and if they meet your expectations.

  • Find out what their style preferences are and if they fall into the category you are thinking of e.g. traditional, contemporary, quirky, floral-accented and so forth.

  • Check if they have a minimum budget requirement before considering taking on a job.

  • Find out who the other industry service providers whom they work with are.

  • Determine if they have previous experience in setting up the venues where your ceremony and banquet are to be held.
