Other than the wedding banquet, opportunities for receptions include the following :

  • Bridal shower.
  • Bachelor’s night.
  • Dinner on the eve of the wedding for relatives and close friends.
  • Brunch, lunch or afternoon tea after the wedding ceremony.

For the most part, such receptions are catered events. Consider some of these issues during the planning process :

  • Size of guest list.
  • Capacity of location.
  • Budget per person and if the catering company has a minimum spend requirement.
  • Reputation and track record of caterer.
  • Type of service e.g. standing cocktail with finger food or a more substantial sit down meal with buffet stations.
  • Variety of menu options.
  • Is there a necessity to cater to the needs of vegetarians or guests with allergies?
  • Booking conditions and payment terms.
  • Additional services such as table, chairs, linen and tableware rental, canopies and the like.
  • Logistics of set up and tear down.
