Get Inspired

A Free Hand

Apr 01, 2020

Ask any wedding decorator what they would wish for from a client and a likely answer would be a free hand to exercise their creativity based on the décor concept that has been agreed on. Indeed, giving your appointed decorator free rein gives them the artistic license to put their skills to the best use possible in an effort to help you realise the wedding you have envisioned.

Cover the following in your initial discussions :

  • What is your venue providing as part of the wedding package?
  • Is there a need for décor enhancement?
  • The budget you have allocated.
  • The starting price points of the decorator.
  • What is the decorator known for and what is their signature.
  • How big is their team?
  • Are they available on your wedding day?

As the wedding planning progresses, the following should entail:

  • Have your wedding planner brief your decorator and other complementary vendors on the theme and concept. These may also include their appointed floral designer, photobooth supplier, lighting designer and the like.
  • Introduce your decorator to your venue’s events team to coordinate delivery, setup and tear down.
  • Delve into the nitty-gritty i.e. colours, textures, type of flowers and so forth.
  • Do props need to be custom-designed or can they be rented?
