There’s more than meets the eyes when it comes to diamonds. Did you know that no two diamonds are the same? Much like a fingerprint, each diamond is completely unique with its own characteristics and qualities. Let's discover how the 4Cs - cut, colour, clarity and carat of a diamond contributes to its beauty.

The beauty of a diamond is mainly determined by its cut. A diamond should be cut to a strict defined symmetry and proportions to ensure it shines to a maximum sparkle. Finally, the polishing adds to deliver a magnificent display of light, further radiating the beauty of a diamond from the inside out.

The SUEN difference :

  • At SUEN, each diamond displays magnificent sparkle and fire because we meticulously examine and hand-select each one to ensure that only those with excellent proportions, symmetry and polish find its place in our boutique.

Less is more when it comes to a diamond's colour. GIA’s diamond colour grading scale begins with D, representing colourless and continues with an increasing presence of colour to Z which is light yellow. The closer to colourless, the rarer and more valuable a diamond is.

The SUEN difference :

  • SUEN diamonds range between colourless (D, E, F) to near colourless (G, H, I, J) on the colour scale.

Clarity refers to the degree of imperfections, known as inclusions in a diamond. The presence of most inclusions are invisible to the naked eye and therefore can only be seen under 10x magnification.

The SUEN difference :

  • SUEN’s in-house gemologist takes incredible care to assess the size, location and number of inclusions to ensure that we only select diamonds that have no noticeable imperfections to the naked eye.

Carat indicates a diamond's weight and not size, as many might think. One carat is equivalent to 0.2 grams (or 100 points). Two diamonds with the same carat weight can be valued differently based on the other factors within the 4Cs - cut, colour and clarity.

The SUEN difference :

  • A SUEN diamond undergoes the same exacting selection process to evaluate the cut, clarity and colour regardless of its carat weight so you can be rest assured, only the best quality diamonds reach your hands.
